In Kyiv, a 22-year-old bank employee stole $400,000 from the institution.

Kyiv police received a report from the security guards of one of the city’s financial institutions about a large sum of money missing. Officers from the Solomensky Police Department who arrived at the scene determined that the theft was committed by a 22-year-old bank employee.

It was found that during a routine accounting procedure, the suspect took advantage of the moment, hid four packets of cash in his backpack and left for lunch. Later that day, other bank employees discovered a shortage amounting to approximately 16 million hryvnias.

The suspect was apprehended by the police. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
