March 17, 2024In Kyiv, a group of men assaulted a guy because of his tolerant attitude towards the LGBT community. The guy did not express support for same-sex relationships but simply explained that he was “indifferent to what other people do.”
This was reported by the human rights organization “LGBT Center ‘Our World’.”
The attack occurred on March 8 in one of the parks. Human rights activists point out that the group of assailants in the park raised their hands in a Nazi salute and shouted “Sieg Heil.”
“The police who arrived on the scene did not dare to detain the attackers, who outnumbered them. ‘There are only three of us, and there are so many of them. Let them go’,” the organization writes, quoting law enforcement officers who spoke to the victim’s friend.
Kyiv police spokesperson Dmytro Hryshchenko confirmed to Hromadske that a criminal case has been opened under the article for intentional infliction of bodily harm.
According to the victim, he was hanging out with friends in the park when an unknown person from a neighboring group approached him. He asked the guy, “Do you support f*ggots?”
