Former People’s Deputy and former Governor of Zakarpattia, Hennadiy Moskal, has passed away.
This was announced by MP Alexei Goncharenko.
Moskal was 73 years old. Telegram channels report that he had been battling a serious illness in recent times.
Hennadiy Moskal was a retired lieutenant general of the militia, a candidate of legal sciences, and an associate professor. Since 2007, he served as a People’s Deputy of Ukraine in the VI and VII convocations. From December 2012, he held the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Combating Organized Crime and Corruption.
Following the events in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Moskal first headed the Luhansk region and then the Zakarpattia region. He was removed from the latter position in 2019 by a decree of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
