02.04.2026 - 15:13In Ukraine, after peaking in 2023, the number of people suspected of drug-related crimes has been gradually declining, although the scale remains significant. In just the first two months of 2026, more than 2,500 people were notified of suspicion for illegal drug trafficking.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General in response to journalists’ inquiries.
According to the National Police response, the number of persons notified of suspicion of committing criminal offenses in the sphere of illegal drug trafficking was:
- 14,766 in 2022;
- 20,344 in 2023;
- 20,097 in 2024;
- 17,787 in 2025;
- 2,584 in January and February 2026.
The number of persons notified of suspicion under Article 307 of the Criminal Code (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues) was:
- 2,584 in 2022;
- 3,315 in 2023;
- 3,537 in 2024;
- 3,508 in 2025;
- 705 in January and February 2026.
The National Police also reported that in 2025 the largest numbers of organized groups and criminal organizations involved in illegal drug trafficking were uncovered in:
- the city of Kyiv (14),
- Dnipropetrovsk region (12),
- and Lviv region (11).
At the same time, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the number of persons notified of suspicion in criminal offenses involving narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors, and other criminal offenses against public health (Section XIII of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was:
- 15,321 from January to December 2022;
- 21,636 from January to December 2023;
- 21,499 from January to December 2024;
- 18,994 from January to December 2025;
- 2,564 from January to February 2026.
The number of persons notified of suspicion under Article 307 of the Criminal Code, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, was:
- 2,505 from January to December 2022;
- 3,379 from January to December 2023;
- 3,466 from January to December 2024;
- 3,311 from January to December 2025;
- 638 from January to February 2026.
In addition, the number of persons who committed criminal offenses in the sphere of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, or precursors, but had not yet been formally notified of suspicion, was:
- 15,023 from January to December 2022;
- 21,294 from January to December 2023;
- 21,411 from January to December 2024;
- 19,151 from January to December 2025;
- 2,621 from January to February 2026.
The number of persons who committed criminal offenses under Article 307 but had not yet been notified of suspicion, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, was:
- 2,351 from January to December 2022;
- 3,034 from January to December 2023;
- 3,291 from January to December 2024;
- 3,348 from January to December 2025;
- 600 from January to February 2026.
