30.10.2024 12:33In Kyiv, four police officers repeatedly engaged in sexual acts with prostitutes, allegedly as part of investigative experiments to uncover a brothel.
This information is from a ruling by the Dnipro District Court of Kyiv on October 23, as published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
The suspects in the case include a Georgian national and two Ukrainian women who organized a brothel where prostitutes provided sexual services to clients. The suspects handled the recruitment of women, client sourcing, and administration, with the prostitutes giving them a portion of their earnings.
From September to October 2022, one police officer engaged in sex with prostitutes three times as part of an investigative experiment, paying 4,500 UAH (100 euros). In November 2022, another police officer paid 1,600 UAH (36 euros) for similar services. In January 2023, two other officers conducted “investigative experiments” and engaged in sex with prostitutes, paying 2,000 UAH (45 euros) and 5,000 UAH (112 euros) respectively.
Subsequently, the suspects were detained by the police. During the trial, the women denied their guilt, claiming they were not pimps but rather ordinary sex workers. Two of them accused the police of retaliation, alleging that the officers had offered them protection in exchange for cooperation, but the women refused.
One defendant stated, “She considers the charges baseless and ‘retaliatory’ because she declined the police officers’ proposal to ‘pay them’ and set up a pornography studio in her property.”
After reviewing the case materials, the court found all three women guilty under Part 2 of Article 303 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, sentencing them to four years in prison.
