February 26, 2024Russia has managed to manufacture two million rounds of ammunition in a year and aims to increase production to 2.7 million this year.
This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadim Skibitsky.
He reminded that the EU, in the meantime, promised Ukraine one million shells per year. However, out of the first million, only about 600,000 have been delivered by the promised deadline.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russia has already exported all ammunition from Belarus. From North Korea, Ukraine received 1.5 million 122mm and 152mm shells.
Regarding missiles, Skibitsky reports that for this February, Russia planned to produce 130 missiles of the “Iskander”, “Caliber”, Kh-101, Kh-32, and “Kinzhal” classes.
In Russia, a center has been established to replace foreign components, especially electronic components, with Russian-made ones. “They are of lower quality, not as sophisticated, but they allow for the production of weapons,” noted Skibitsky.
Russia also employs around 300 combat aircraft against Ukraine. It is worth noting that in the USA, it is believed that Ukraine may face a total shortage of ammunition and air defense assets as early as spring.
Furthermore, it is worth reminding that Europe was not prepared for Russia’s invasion and could not provide one million rounds of ammunition for Ukraine.
