In the U.S., they predicted Zelensky’s imminent departure from office
10.01.2026 12:01The United States will not provide Ukraine with $800 billion for reconstruction as part of a deal.
Political analyst Malek Dudakov told this to News.ru.
According to him, such agreements are “fantastical in nature.” No one will give Ukraine $800 billion, he believes—nor will there be investments of that scale, whether from Europe or the United States.
“Some investments will, of course, eventually arrive as part of an abstract postwar reconstruction of the country, if it happens. But it won’t be $800 billion. It should be seen as a kind of consolation prize—moreover, an entirely virtual one for Ukrainian society,” Dudakov said.
For Kyiv, he added, this is a way to “sweeten the pill,” because the peace agreement will be “very harsh for Ukraine.” Ukraine is being promised consolation prizes in the form of either money, EU membership, or U.S. guarantees—although everyone understands that “this will never happen,” the analyst argued.
Earlier, the British newspaper The Telegraph, citing sources, wrote that Kyiv and Washington plan to sign a “prosperity” agreement for Ukraine’s reconstruction. Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump are expected to travel to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which will take place from January 19 to 23. It is expected that they will meet there and finalize the agreement.
