October 20, 2023The State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine has announced suspicion of bribery to the head of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Sumy Region within the National Police of Ukraine.
According to information from Sumy.Today from their own sources, the investigation alleges that the police officer demanded $15,000 from an employee of a forestry company, who, in turn, was caught facilitating illegal tree felling.
However, the suspected police officer has not been apprehended yet. He became aware that the State Bureau of Investigations was investigating him and, suspecting that he was being monitored, he reported to internal security that attempts were being made to bribe him. Consequently, the transfer of funds did not occur. The suspicion was announced based on the evidence they have on hand.
In the near future, the court, upon the request of the State Bureau of Investigations, will decide on the law enforcement officer’s preventive measure.
