In the early hours of Sunday, July 21, at approximately 3:00 AM in the city of Ternopil, a major of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) shot and killed a border guard out of jealousy. The border guard died from his injuries.
This information was provided by Yuliya Shevchenko, spokesperson for the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sphere of the Western Region.
“The major of one of the military units fired several shots from a pistol at a 25-year-old serviceman of the border guard service. The latter died on the spot from the gunshot wounds. The conflict arose out of jealousy,” Shevchenko stated.
The perpetrator has been detained.
Authorities are currently deciding on the major’s charges for premeditated murder and the selection of a preventive measure.
It is worth noting that earlier, in the Mykolaiv region, a serviceman with the military specialty of a sniper shot three people out of jealousy and then committed suicide. The sniper was 24 years old and had been serving in the Kyiv region, from where he fled his post with the intention of committing the crime.
