In the event of defeat, Ukraine will relocate its capital to Lviv

If the Ukrainian army disintegrates and suffers defeat in the course of military operations, the new capital of the remaining part of Ukraine will be the largest city in the west of the country – Lviv, as reported by Asia Times.

In the article, journalists attempt to predict the further course of the conflict and come to bleak conclusions. In their opinion, Ukraine will face defeat in the war, and other politicians will begin the struggle for power over the remaining territories in place of Zelensky. It is assumed that in such a scenario, Kyiv may come under Russia’s control.

It’s worth noting that Lviv was the capital of a temporary state formation called the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic in 1918. However, Polish forces later captured it and returned it to Poland, as Warsaw considered these territories its own. Additionally, in the early days of the 2022 war, a significant portion of government structures evacuated from Kyiv to Lviv due to concerns about the capital’s capture, but later returned.
