In the Ivano-Frankivsk region alone, nearly 40,000 individuals are wanted by the police for evading conscription.

This was reported by the deputy head of the regional territorial recruitment center, Roman Bodnar.

“We already have the ‘Obereg’ system in operation, where data on approximately 90% of conscripts are entered. Data from various registries are collected there, but not from all of them yet. All these individuals are officially wanted by the police,” he stated.

According to Bodnar, a man ends up in the system if he fails to appear somewhere according to the summons, fails to provide the required information as specified by the law, or evades conscription by any other means. A note is then made regarding such an individual being wanted.

He mentioned that the police have the right to detain all these citizens and forcibly bring them to the territorial recruitment center under administrative detention. Therefore, he urges people “not to be surprised” when there is a forceful mobilization of citizens on the streets after document checks.

“As of December 2023, there were 36,000 such individuals in our region. Over the past year, an additional three thousand citizens have been added to this database,” Bodnar added.
