“I feel physically sick from the video”: Blogger Ksyusha Maneken expressed outrage over forced mobilization in Ukraine
October 14, 2024In the Khmelnytskyi region, the deputy chairman of the military medical commission of the district territorial recruitment center and a doctor from an emergency medical service substation have been charged with issuing fake medical certificates for men of conscription age.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
The police and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) seized nearly 8 million UAH (€177.7 thousand) from the doctors. In addition to the money, notebooks containing the names of their “clients” were also confiscated during the searches.
The suspects were helping men of conscription age obtain disability status, allowing them to avoid being drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). To achieve this, the perpetrators falsified medical documents, indicating that the men had qualifying illnesses. These documents were then submitted to the military medical commission, which approved them.
The price for their “services” ranged from $3,000 to $8,000, considered relatively inexpensive by Ukrainian standards.
The individuals involved face up to eight years in prison, with the possibility of property confiscation.
Earlier, it was reported by the media that in Zhytomyr, a doctor earned over 4 million UAH by providing fake MRI results for draft dodgers.
