In the Odessa region, law enforcement officers caught a serviceman red-handed, who demanded money for assisting in obtaining disability benefits for another soldier’s mother.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine.

According to the agency, the head of one of the military units in the Odessa region demanded a bribe from a serviceman for assistance in obtaining a second-degree disability status for his mother. The official promised to arrange all the necessary documents through acquaintances in the medical field for $9,000 so that the serviceman could subsequently be discharged from service.

On April 24, the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine detained the man while receiving the agreed sum.

Journalists learned details of the military serviceman’s bribery arrest.

“It concerns the chief of the canine department of the 26th border guard unit of the Southern Regional Directorate, Senior Lieutenant Alexey E.A., born in 1998. He demanded a bribe from a serviceman to assist in obtaining disability benefits for his mother, so that based on the certificate, he would be exempted from military service,” said a source in law enforcement agencies.
