23.02.2024 05:51In the Odessa region, the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine has exposed an employee of a law enforcement agency who had access to the site where confiscated cars were kept. Exploiting his position, he seized one of the cars and for almost a year drove it around, changing the license plates to counterfeit ones.
This information is reported by the Odessa website “Kulturometr”.
The perpetrator turned out to be the chief of the duty unit of the law enforcement agency in the Odessa region. The car was held in the impound lot during the pre-trial investigation into a case of robbery attacks by an organized group.
The State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine exposed the official and confiscated the car.
The man was dismissed from the law enforcement agencies and informed of suspicion of illegal seizure of a motor vehicle (Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for up to 8 years.
