Ipsos survey results are published by Deutsche Welle.
The publication also reports that 35% are unable to give an answer about its chances of winning.
The survey revealed regional differences in the positions of Germans. If in the eastern federal states only one in five (20%) considers Ukraine’s victory possible, in the western states it’s one in four (26%). At the same time, nearly half of eastern Germans (46%) and 39% of western Germans consider Ukraine’s defeat realistic.
Differences in the positions of Germans are also related to belonging to a particular political party. For example, almost half of the Greens’ supporters (47%) are convinced that Ukraine still has a chance to defeat Russia, with only 21% of respondents in this category expressing doubts about this.
Among supporters of the Social Democrats, Christian Democrats, and the Left, there are fewer confident in Ukraine’s chances of winning—37%, 32%, and 32%, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the electorate of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Left Party’s Sarah Wagenknecht Union, only one in ten (11%) believes in Ukraine’s ability to defeat Russia. 69% of AfD supporters and 62% of Sarah Wagenknecht Union supporters are convinced that Ukraine no longer has a chance against Russia.
