12.06.2024 - 11:09In the Poltava region, employees of the company “Ukrzaliznytsia” were detained on suspicion of stealing fuel worth half a million hryvnias.
This information was reported by the National Police of Ukraine on their Facebook page.

According to law enforcement, the perpetrators were stealing up to a ton of fuel at a time from locomotives at the railway station near Kremenchuk. Twenty-one such incidents were documented, and they were caught during another fuel siphoning operation.

Among the suspects are a train assembler, locomotive engineers, and assistant engineers.
Previously, it was reported that fuel theft has become one of the acute corruption issues within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, occurring at almost all levels. For instance, one court decision described how a military fuel tanker driver siphoned off 1,200 liters of diesel fuel, which he admitted in court he planned to sell for 50 hryvnias (1.15 euros) per liter.
