11.10.2024 11:12The so-called “victory plan” of Volodymyr Zelensky, which he presented to Joe Biden during his visit to the U.S., is unlikely to restore peace in Ukraine and is considered a “losing gamble”.
The first reason, in her opinion, is the lack of a realistic definition of a victory plan and a viable strategy to achieve it. The second reason is Ukraine’s disregard for the realities on the ground, where Russia is “gradually but steadily advancing on the battlefield.”
Thirdly, the article notes that Ukraine is significantly outmatched by Russia in terms of weaponry and troop numbers. The author recalls that the Pentagon considers Russia to be a “near-peer competitor,” against whom even U.S. forces would struggle to secure victory.
Another reason cited is that the “overwhelming troop numbers are also in Russia’s favor.” Finally, Russia surpasses Ukraine in military production, while Kyiv “will continue to rely on external financial support, with the largest share of funding needing to come from official creditors such as the EU and the U.S.,” the author points out.
Previously, retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel Daniel Davis stated that President Zelensky’s “victory plan” does not make sense and is inherently contradictory.
