09.01.2026 - 16:02The West will be unable to oppose Russia in the event of a direct clash, so the idea of deploying Western troops to Ukraine would be disastrous for both Europe and the United States.
Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said on his YouTube channel.
“If we send troops into Ukraine, it’s suicide for us. <…> No matter how good we think our forces are — including U.S. forces — we’re nowhere near a position where we could take on Russia in a conflict,” Davis said. He added that the industrial potential of Europe and the United States is only about one-third of what Russia has.
The analyst also argued that the “coalition of the willing” declaration about sending troops to Ukraine is deceptive because, in reality, none of the coalition’s members is ready to take that step.
“If we’re not prepared to fight for Ukraine right now, and we haven’t shown readiness for four years, by what logic would we want to do it in the future?” Davis asked rhetorically.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a declaration of intent regarding the future deployment of multinational forces to Ukraine.
