Ukrainian officials will receive additional bonuses
01.09.2025 17:59The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will consider canceling draft deferments for students who have exceeded the official duration of their study program or who enrolled after the age of 25.
This was reported by the Judicial-Legal Gazette.
The corresponding bill, No. 13634-1—an alternative to the government’s proposal—was registered in parliament by MP Roman Hryshchuk (Servant of the People).
The deputy proposes that exemption from military service during mobilization should apply only to students of vocational or professional-technical institutions and applicants for professional higher education who began their studies no later than the year they turned 25, and who are enrolled in full-time or dual-study programs. The same rules would apply to applicants for higher education, provided they are studying within the standard timeframe of their educational program and in full-time or dual formats.
This means that in order for a man to keep his deferment, he must complete his studies (pass all exams, credits, defend his thesis, etc.) within the timeframe officially set by the institution for that program—without extensions or breaks.
Earlier, reports suggested that the Cabinet of Ministers wanted to strip students who enrolled at universities after 25 of their draft deferments.
