20.04.2024 - 19:39Last night, individuals in military uniforms shot a police officer at a checkpoint. This incident occurred in the Vinnytsia region, between the villages of Florino and Yelanets in the Haisyn district.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
A Suzuki Grand Vitara car was stopped to check documents. Inside were two individuals who opened fire on the police officers. One patrol officer was killed on the spot, while the other sustained injuries and is currently in the hospital.

It is reported that the car, in which the unknown assailants fled, headed towards the Odessa region. Video footage of these individuals at a gas station is being circulated.
The police have confirmed that they are searching for the individuals who shot the police officers in the Vinnytsia region overnight.
“There were two men in the car. They opened fire on the police officers. As a result of the injuries received, a 20-year-old police officer was killed, and his partner was wounded,” the statement said.
It is reported that the criminals have been identified but not yet apprehended. A police operation is underway in the Vinnytsia and Odessa regions.
Later, the media published the names of the military personnel who shot the police officers in the Vinnytsia region. As previously reported, they are father and son. They claimed to “serve in the Air Defense Forces of the 58th RTB.”
The father is Valeriy Vasilake, born in 1972, a native of the city of Chornomyn, Peshchansky district of the Vinnytsia region.
The son is Vitaliy Vasilake, born in 1998.
Judging by their photos on Facebook, both are indeed military personnel.

The National Police confirmed the journalists’ information that the deceased police officer during the overnight attack was 20-year-old Maksym Zaretskyi.
It is reported that he studied at the National Academy of Internal Affairs and served for one and a half years in the patrol police. He was the only child in his family.
