In the war between Russia and Ukraine, “cooling down” is needed, says China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine needs “cooling down.”

Li Hui, the special representative of the Chinese government for Eurasian affairs, visited Brazil today. During his meeting with Celso Amorim, the chief special advisor to the President of Brazil, they discussed the issues related to the war in Ukraine.

“Li Hui stated that the current war between Russia and Ukraine is still ongoing, and the main priority is to cool down the situation. The ‘six-point consensus,’ jointly issued by China and Brazil to promote a political resolution to the Ukrainian crisis, has received positive feedback from more than 110 countries. China is ready to continue strengthening contacts and coordination with Pakistan to jointly promote the final political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis,” the statement said.

It is worth noting that China, Brazil, and several other Global South countries are calling for a ceasefire along the front lines and the commencement of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
