Some of the most fervent supporters of Ukraine in the West are now talking about the necessity for Kyiv to “accept a frozen conflict and declare victory”.

“We need to flip the narrative and say that Putin failed,” stated one former American official.

The publication notes that Russia achieved “far worse results” than many analysts expected at the beginning of the invasion, while Ukraine retained access to the Black Sea, repelled Russian forces from Kyiv, and received a green light to begin negotiations for entry into the EU, which should lead to increased financial and technical support.
