05.02.2025 12:41Ukraine has recorded its first case where a citizen’s right to drive a vehicle was restricted due to violations of military registration rules.
This was reported by the website “Opendatabot”.
The Kuznetsovsk City Court in Rivne region ruled in favor of the Territorial Recruitment Center’s lawsuit, temporarily revoking a driver’s right to operate a vehicle until he complies with military enlistment requirements. The man was accused of failing to appear at the recruitment office on time to update his records. Additionally, he did not attend the court hearing.
A search of the judicial registry revealed 41 similar cases, most of which were filed in December 2024.
Currently, most of these cases are being sent back to the recruitment centers due to procedural issues, primarily the failure to pay court fees.
Lawyers believe that the 2024 budget may not have allocated funds for such legal expenses, as the new mobilization law tightening enlistment rules was passed mid-year. However, in 2025, recruitment centers may receive funds for court fees, increasing their chances of winning such cases.
Citizens can only learn if a lawsuit has been filed against them through the “Diia” government app or the “eCourt” electronic system, as access to court cases related to mobilization is restricted.
Previously, media reports indicated that an algorithm had been developed to revoke driving privileges for those violating military registration rules.
Meanwhile, in December, a military lawyer stated that legally revoking driver’s licenses for draft dodgers under the new mobilization law is very difficult.
