Beaten and dragged on the ground: cases of men being mobilized right on the streets continue in Ukraine
03.06.2024 08:55In Ukraine, all women should be made subject to compulsory military service from the age of 18, on par with men.
This was stated by the commander of the “Achilles” battalion of the 92nd Brigade, Yuriy Fedorenko.
“I sincerely believe that all Ukrainians should be liable for military service: men and women, from the age of 18. They should participate in combat after the age of 23. Not after 25, but after 23. So, 24 is the ideal age. By this time, everyone should have a military registration specialty, understand how it works, and know why it is needed. If this had been the case at the start of the full-scale war, everyone would have taken up arms and understood the basics of military affairs. They could apply a tourniquet, provide assistance, work as a medic, understand how weapons operate, and so on. With such a number of people, we could ensure better results with fewer losses,” Fedorenko explained.
It is worth noting that in April, Oksana Grigoryeva, the gender advisor to the Commander of the Ground Forces, said in an interview with The Times that Ukraine should prepare for the mobilization of women in the coming years.
Additionally, in March, military medic Yaryna Chernoguz supported the idea of mobilizing women.
