November 20, 2023Fuel, medication and food supplies are encountering disruptions in retail due to the ongoing blockade at the Polish border. In Ukraine, numerous delivery services are struggling to maintain previously agreed-upon delivery schedules, largely because of the potential delays caused by goods getting stuck at border crossings.
The price of autogas in domestic gas stations has spiked by 2 hryvnias in the past week due to logistical issues affecting the market. The blockade at the Ukrainian-Polish border has led to a scarcity of automotive gas at local stations, as the usual supply route through the Yagodyn checkpoint is nearly inaccessible. Consequently, not all suppliers could resolve this, resulting in shortages and subsequent price hikes.
Moreover, there are concerns of potential price increases for finished products by at least 5% due to logistical challenges, particularly for items requiring strict temperature control such as vaccines. The movement of goods like meat, fish, dairy products and more, has significantly slowed down. Additionally, delivery deadlines for new automobiles are being missed, affecting dealerships and many services responsible for delivering goods from international online stores are also struggling to meet their commitments.
