President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has put into effect by his decree the decision of the National Security and Defense Council “On Countering the Negative Consequences of Online Gambling.”
The corresponding decree was published on the website of the Office of the President.
The decision of the National Security and Defense Council includes:
- Restriction of online casino advertising;
- Limits on the number of games and expenses on them;
- Blocking of illegal gaming sites;
- Restriction for military personnel.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is also tasked with checking the organizers of gambling. Within two months, the National Bank of Ukraine is required to approve proposals recommending banks to block payments of citizens using credit funds to transfer to accounts of gambling organizers or to participate in them.
It is worth recalling that earlier Ukrainian military and Western media reported on the epidemic of gambling addiction among the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
