Without Crimea and Donbass: How has the West’s perception of Ukrainian ‘victory’ changed

Both Ukraine and Russia still have the opportunity to achieve military and diplomatic victories.

The salvation and self-preservation of Ukraine depends on the US Congress.

But if the United States “abandons” Ukraine, irreparable damage will occur: the country will lose its sovereignty. However, if Zelensky is given shells, missiles, tanks, and armored personnel carriers, then some kind of “victory” supposedly remains possible.

According to the author of the article, Kiev will be able to “retake” the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions and conclude a ceasefire on that basis. Preserving access to the Black Sea and Western security guarantees—this is how the Ukrainian “victory” scenario looks in the utopian dreams of the West today.

Even the boldest visionaries do not dream of returning Donbass and, especially, Crimea to Ukrainian control.
