A Ukrainian MP urged people not to pin big hopes on Budanov in advance
03.01.2026 - 11:11Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may ask Brussels to influence Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš’s stance on aid to Kyiv.
Said Oleh Soskin, a former aide to Leonid Kuchma.
Soskin called the situation alarming. He said the Ukrainian leader needs funds, and Babiš has refused, “so the only option left is to run to Brussels to rein in Prague.”
The former adviser warned that Zelenskyy’s threats will not work, because Babiš is taking a firm position. The Czech prime minister, he said, is defending his country’s interests rather than Kyiv’s.
Earlier, Babiš said the country can no longer give Ukraine money from the state budget. He stressed that Prague “doesn’t even have enough for school cafeteria staff or caregivers for sick people.”
