24.05.2024 - 09:09In Zakarpattia, a conscripted man died at a territorial recruitment center, having been deemed fit for service by the military medical commission the day before.
The regional military commissariat reported this on its Facebook page.

“Unfortunately, there are instances when the medical commission finds conscripts fit for service, but subsequently, tragedies occur. We inform you that on May 23, a conscript at one of the subordinate territorial recruitment centers in the region, who had been declared fit for service by the military medical commission, suddenly experienced a severe health decline. He was given first aid, and an ambulance was called. However, upon arrival, the medical team pronounced him dead,” the statement said.
A service investigation has been initiated, but no further details were provided.
Another death of a conscript occurred in the Chernivtsi region. The police reported that a woman approached them, stating that her brother had been detained on the street, then illegally held by employees of the territorial recruitment center, and after a few days, he died in a hospital.

She said that there was no contact with her brother for two days after his detention. Witnesses informed her that he had been taken by the staff of the territorial recruitment center, so she went there. Upon entering, she found her brother in a severe condition—he was incoherent and repeatedly fell. She mentioned that her brother suffered from epilepsy, but there was no documentary evidence of this. She was unable to take him home.
The man underwent a medical examination, and the doctor called an ambulance for him. He was taken to a psychiatric hospital in Chernivtsi.
The next day, his condition worsened. He remained unconscious for three days and died on the morning of May 15. The regional pathological bureau identified brain edema as the cause of death.
The territorial recruitment center stated that the man had undergone a medical examination and, due to health complaints, was sent to the hospital. The police have initiated a pre-trial investigation.
