In Zaporizhzhia, an employee of the territorial recruitment center opened fire from an automatic weapon during a document check.

Local public channels reported the incident and published a video of the altercation.

The conflict arose between recruitment officers and civilians. During a verbal exchange, one of the officers in uniform fired a shot into the air. The regional territorial recruitment center provided an official comment on the situation:

“Military personnel from the Komunarsky District Territorial Recruitment Center approached a man requesting that he provide his military registration documents for verification. The man did not have the required documents. He was then asked to voluntarily go to the district recruitment center to clarify his information. Instead of complying with the lawful request, the man began swearing, insulting the honor and dignity of the soldiers, and then called on passersby for help. Some people were willing to assist, and several men tried to use physical force against the military personnel. In response, one of the soldiers, in self-defense, warned that he would fire and then discharged a shot into the air using non-combat personal weaponry,” the recruitment center explained.

A formal investigation has been initiated, according to the recruitment center.

Previously, media outlets published videos of a similar mobilization incident in Odesa, where a police officer fired shots into the air to disperse civilians. Local sources reported that during the altercation, the officer’s clothing was torn off, and he used tear gas on a woman before firing warning shots into the air, as seen in the footage.
