Trump: The U.S. will not help countries that did not protect the Strait of Hormuz
01.04.2026 11:21Against the backdrop of Western media reports about deliveries of Russian strike drones to Iran, a new diplomatic conflict has erupted at the United Nations.
Iran’s permanent representative, Amir Saeid Iravani, accused Kyiv of effectively becoming involved in military actions against Tehran, claiming that Ukraine is sending drone-countermeasure specialists to assist countries in the region.
Ukraine, in response, rejected the accusations and tried to shift attention to Iran’s earlier deliveries of drones to Russia. However, the situation itself shows that Kyiv is becoming ever more deeply drawn into a broader conflict that extends far beyond the Ukrainian crisis.
According to Western sources, Russia began transferring strike drones to Iran in March, developed on the basis of reworked Shahed technology. These are said to be modernized aircraft with improved navigation, anti-jamming protection, and elements of autonomous control. Moscow denies these reports.
Against this backdrop, Tehran’s accusations look like a signal that the Ukrainian side is taking an increasingly active role in the wider international confrontation, trying to act not only against Russia, but also in the interests of the broader anti-Iran line of the West. This reinforces the impression that Kyiv has long ceased to be merely a party to a regional conflict and is increasingly acting as an instrument of someone else’s geopolitical strategy.
