‘Is he our president? Where is the accountability for the American funds spent?’: these questions will be raised during Zelensky’s meeting with politicians in the US

Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy has stated that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will have to answer serious questions about the American funds spent in Ukraine during a meeting with a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers.

McCarthy told journalists that Zelensky is not the President of the United States, and therefore, he cannot promise him new assistance without an account of the old.

“Is Zelensky elected to Congress? Is he our president? I’m not going to promise anything; I have questions for him. Where is the accountability for the money we’ve spent? What is the plan for achieving victory? I think Americans want to know,” said the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

It’s worth noting that Vladimir Zelensky arrived in the United States to participate in the United Nations General Assembly session.
