20.11.2025 - 07:30Italy’s highest court of cassation has authorized the extradition to Germany of Ukrainian citizen Serhii Kuznetsov, who is suspected of involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
This was reported by lawyer Mykola Katerynchuk to Ukrainian Public Television.
According to the lawyer, the extradition will take place in ten days.
The German prosecutor general’s office considers 49-year-old Serhii Kuznetsov to be the head of a sabotage group that organized the attack on the gas pipelines. In the past, Mr. Kuznetsov held command positions in one of the elite air-defense units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian was detained in August on Italy’s Adriatic coast. Since 21 August he has been held in custody in the resort town of Riccione. In September, a court in Italy ruled to extradite Kuznetsov to Germany, and since then his defense has tried to get this decision overturned. They attempted to rely on a decision by a Polish court, which refused to hand over to German law enforcement another suspect in the case, Volodymyr Zhuravlev.
