Miroshnik calls Yermak and Zelensky’s circle of associates “ordinary thieves”
18.05.2026 18:01EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas has said that Russia currently does not hold a strong enough position in the war against Ukraine and needs to be pushed toward negotiations.
This was reported by a correspondent of Yevropeyska Pravda.
“We see that negotiations on Ukraine are making almost no progress right now. At the same time, Russia is not in the strongest position, so efforts must be made to bring it to the negotiating table,” Kallas stressed.
The head of European diplomacy also noted that China, thanks to its close ties with Russia, can play an important role in the peace process and influence Moscow to agree to end the war.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna holds a different position. According to him, Europe should not agree to the Kremlin’s attempts to draw it into direct dialogue with Russia at a time when Ukraine has the advantage in the war. Tsahkna also noted that Moscow is reaching out to European countries more actively due to economic problems and the difficult situation facing the Russian army in the fifth year of the full-scale war.
In the Estonian minister’s view, Europe should respond to these contacts by tightening sanctions rather than helping Russia find a way out of its current situation.
