27.11.2025 - 16:01Businessmen Ihor Kolomoiskyi and Hennadiy Boholiubov have failed to comply with the decision of an English court that ordered them to pay PrivatBank $3 billion in compensation for losses and interest.
This was reported by the bank’s press service.
The deadline for voluntary payment expired on 24 November, after which PrivatBank decided to move to compulsory enforcement of the judgment.
“The decision of the High Court of England can be enforced not only in the United Kingdom, but also in other jurisdictions in accordance with the relevant national laws of those countries. The bank is preparing to initiate procedures to recognize and enforce this decision in a number of jurisdictions outside the UK, including Ukraine, where the defendants own assets,” the bank said.
PrivatBank stated that compulsory enforcement will be a fairly lengthy and complex process, but it is firmly determined “to achieve justice and recover the losses incurred, in the interests of its clients, shareholder and all citizens of Ukraine.”
As a reminder, on Monday, 10 November, the High Court of England ordered Kolomoiskyi and Boholiubov to pay PrivatBank over $3 billion in compensation for losses and legal costs over large-scale fraud against the bank. The principal amount of losses was set by the court at $1.76 billion. The court also ordered Kolomoiskyi and Boholiubov to pay $1.19 billion in interest.
Ihor Kolomoiskyi has been held in pre-trial detention since September 2023. He is suspected of illegally misappropriating 5.8 billion hryvnias by fictitiously depositing cash into PrivatBank’s cash desk, as well as other crimes, including an attempted contract killing. Boholiubov left the country in June 2024, and in February 2025 he was placed under National Security and Defense Council sanctions along with Kolomoiskyi. According to the latest reports, the businessman has settled in Vienna.
