05.07.2024 - 14:31Ukrainian authorities have commented on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s visit to Moscow for talks with Kremlin head Vladimir Putin.
The official response was posted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“The decision to make this trip was made by the Hungarian side without coordination or consultation with Ukraine. We remind that for our state, the principle of ‘no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine’ remains inviolable, and we call on all states to strictly adhere to it,” the Ministry’s statement said.

Previously, both the Kremlin and Budapest had stated that the leaders would discuss Ukraine during their meeting. Meanwhile, the first footage of the meeting between Putin and Orbán has appeared online.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has already reported that the talks have concluded. Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, stated that Orbán did not convey a message from Volodymyr Zelensky to Putin. According to him, the parties “held a frank conversation on all issues concerning the Ukrainian crisis.”
It was only yesterday that news of Orbán’s visit to Moscow became known. The EU stated that it did not mandate the Hungarian prime minister’s trip to Russia.
