The Ukrainian side handed over its version of the memorandum on ending the war, in both English and Ukrainian, to the Russian delegation at today’s negotiations in Istanbul.
This was stated by the Russian delegation’s representative, Vladimir Medinsky.
According to him, this is not a problem since the Russian delegation even includes members who speak Japanese.
“No worries, we managed. In our delegation, there are people who speak many different languages. If needed, two of them are fluent in Japanese,” Medinsky said.
Earlier, Ukraine stated that during previous talks in Istanbul, Kyiv’s representatives spoke exclusively in Ukrainian or English.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that all communication, except for the opening statement, was conducted in Russian.
The second round of negotiations is set to begin today in Istanbul at 1:00 p.m. Kyiv and Moscow time.
