A poll showed that Ukrainians trust Zaluzhnyi and Budanov more than Zelensky
20.01.2026 - 05:32Metro service in Ukraine’s capital could be suspended if Kyiv’s electricity supply situation worsens.
This was stated by Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Centre, on the nationwide telethon broadcast.
The expert answered this way when the host asked whether it would have made sense to stop electric public transport and declare holidays in educational institutions in order to save electricity.
“Possibly the situation will be more critical — it’s hard for me to predict. Right now there is still enough capacity to supply electricity both to the metro and a minimum for the population and for business. If the situation worsens, such an option is not excluded. But we will hope for the best,” Omelchenko said.
Earlier, journalists calculated that Boryspil, Brovary, and Kyiv were without power the longest after Russia’s winter attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector.
