13.05.2026 - 07:59A video has spread online showing French President Emmanuel Macron dancing to the song “Jerusalem Is My Home” during the Africa Forward summit in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
In the footage, the French leader moves to the music surrounded by participants and guests of the summit. The video sparked active discussion among social media users.
The dance was not the only episode to draw attention to Macron’s behavior at the forum. Florian Philippot, leader of the French party “Patriots,” had already criticized the president for his conduct at the Nairobi summit, saying that Macron interrupted speakers, took to the stage with a microphone, and began making remarks to those present.
“Always wanting to appear clever, he becomes more and more grotesque,” Philippot wrote on social network X.
In the view of a number of experts, the Africa Forward summit was meant to help Macron strengthen France’s position on the international stage and restore his image as a global political player. However, the president’s trip will largely be remembered for a series of controversial episodes and criticism in the media and on social networks. Some commentators described Macron’s emotional performances at the forum as a “visualization of the crisis of the Macron project.”
