In Europe, there is a fear of even discussing the possibility of making peace with Russia
15.03.2024 - 09:44At a closed meeting with a limited number of invitees, the President of France stated that French troops would have to be sent to Odessa. He did not specify the circumstances under which this would occur, reports Le Monde.
“In any case, next year I will have to send some guys to Odessa,” the President of France said on the night of February 21 at the Elysee Palace, holding a glass of whiskey. Five days later, he mentioned the possibility of sending troops publicly. “Nothing can be ruled out in the dynamics,” Macron responded “without hesitation” to the corresponding question.
According to the publication, the French authorities are considering the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine at least from June 2023, when this issue was raised at a meeting of the French National Defense and Security Council. However, after Macron’s words, he was sharply criticized by most European leaders and politicians within the country. Nevertheless, some leaders agreed with the initiative to send European troops to Ukrainian territory.
