“Bunker mentality”: Western media continue to criticize Zelensky over the NABU affair
30.07.2025 - 11:33Many Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front lines are so exhausted and burned out that they view death as a form of relief.
This was stated by Ukrainian member of parliament Heorhii Mazurashu.
He believes that this burnout is the result of what he called “our idiotic, slave-owning, Soviet-style system, which still largely dominates in the armed forces.”
“When the military command fundamentally sees soldiers as slaves — slaves of the system, the army, the state — and ignores the fact that some of these heroes, who have defended their homeland for a long time and have endured wounds, are so burned out that their ability to carry out tasks is, to put it mildly, very low,” Mazurashu said.
“Medics in Kramatorsk told me that soldiers say: ‘We don’t care anymore, whether we live or die.’ For them, death is a kind of relief.”
Meanwhile, in mid-July, president Volodymyr Zelensky declared in the Verkhovna Rada that demobilization of soldiers would happen “only after victory.”
These words were later commented on by serviceman Denys Yaroslavskyi, who said they sound like “a death sentence for hundreds of thousands of people.”
