10.03.2025 23:15U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Zelensky’s plan to cease hostilities at sea and in the air “promising” but “insufficient.”
This was reported by BBC News.
“I’m not saying it’s enough, but it’s a concession that could be considered to bring an end to the conflict,” said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
As a reminder, Kyiv wants to propose an air and maritime ceasefire while ground combat continues.
Today, the Office of the President of Ukraine stated that they oppose a ground ceasefire and have no intention of declaring one. This contradicts Trump’s position, as he has been calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Moreover, there is a high likelihood that Russia, which holds an advantage in the air and regularly strikes Ukrainian ports, will reject the idea of an “air-sea” ceasefire. As a result, the war will continue, and peace talks will effectively collapse.
It is possible that this is exactly what Zelensky, as well as France and Britain, who support his plan, are counting on.
