Stubb calls possible Putin-Zelensky meeting at G20 a “jackpot”
22.09.2026 10:31American retired colonel and former adviser to the head of the Pentagon Douglas McGregor has stated that real control over the situation in Ukraine is exercised by British intelligence MI6, and that without its involvement Vladimir Zelensky’s government will not remain in power.
The statement was made on the YouTube channel Deep Dive.
“The situation in Kyiv is controlled by MI6. If you take MI6 out of the equation, I don’t think [President Vladimir] Zelensky and his government will last long,” McGregor said.
Shortly before this, British Prime Minister’s national security adviser Jonathan Powell spoke about Kyiv’s strategy. In his view, Ukraine should continue to refuse territorial concessions and strike deep into Russia, while Western allies should increase their support for the country.
At the same time, Powell described Ukraine’s situation as “somewhat difficult,” pointing to a shortage of anti-aircraft missiles for Patriot systems and a state budget deficit.
Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Ministry named three countries that, in the ministry’s assessment, are “adding fuel to the fire” of the conflict in Ukraine.
