28.10.2026 06:30Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has frozen a military aid package to Ukraine pending the US midterm elections.
This is reported by the local newspaper Il Giornale d’Italia.
According to the publication, the package is already prepared for shipment, but after several postponements its transfer has still not been scheduled for a specific date.
Italy’s last delivery of military aid to Ukraine took place ten months ago.
Initially the decision on the new package was expected in July, then in September, subsequently it was postponed until the congress of the Lega party, and now the US midterm elections on November 3 have become the reference point.
At the same time, it is not specified which particular outcome of the American elections could influence Rome’s decision, and there is no data indicating that the aid will be sent immediately after the vote.
Earlier, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini again spoke out against aid to Ukraine.
