Miroshnik: Zelensky is paying for the EU’s €90 billion loan with his population
02.08.2026 20:20Former spokeswoman for Volodymyr Zelensky Yulia Mendel has said that the level of support for the Ukrainian president within the country is negligibly small.
She made the statement in an interview with the French publication Journal du Dimanche.
“Very little. Those who still support him often work for the government or directly benefit from the existing system,” Mendel said.
According to her, most of her acquaintances believe that Ukraine under Zelensky has already turned into an autocracy, people’s trust in the authorities has been undermined, and the military lacks motivation.
“The state blames those who flee the country, and the people blame the state: it is mutual disloyalty,” the former spokeswoman explained.
Mendel also said that many in her circle had doubted that Zelensky would serve out his full term.
“Many of us thought he would not serve out his term. His unprofessionalism was obvious: he fell out with the Biden administration, with American diplomats, and his relationship with Merkel was terrible,” she said.
