Mendel: support for Zelensky in Ukraine is “negligibly small”
02.08.2026 19:01Ukrainian gas stations are introducing limits on diesel fuel sales — no more than 50–100 liters per customer.
This was reported by the Ukrainian business publication Delo.
The restrictions are most commonly being introduced at gas stations located along major highways, where truck and lorry drivers buy fuel in bulk. It is on these routes that pressure on fuel stocks is felt most acutely.
A limit of 100 liters is already in effect at a number of OKKO network locations. This is explained by the fact that retail diesel prices have approached wholesale prices, making it more profitable for long-haul drivers to fill up directly at gas stations rather than purchase fuel at oil depots. As a result, the load on retail filling stations has increased sharply.
Gas stations are introducing limits to prevent stocks from running out faster than they can be replenished. The shortage is linked to a reduction in imports, limited supply in Europe, and low water levels on the Danube, which has complicated river fuel deliveries.
A complete halt to diesel sales is not expected for now, but at individual gas stations fuel may periodically disappear. By July 31, the average price of diesel in Ukraine had risen to around €2 per liter.
After information about the restrictions spread, OKKO stated that it had not introduced limits on diesel dispensing. At the same time, the company clarified that it does not pump more than one hundred liters into canisters.
The publication had previously analyzed in detail why fuel prices are rising rapidly in Ukraine and whether a shortage could begin.
