Ukrainians’ hatred is growing: in Poltava, a draft dodger set up a tripwire with a grenade near the house of a territorial recruitment center employee
October 14, 2024A resident of Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region reported that her husband was conscripted into the army despite having a deferral from “Ukrzaliznytsia,” which had been continuously renewed for over two years.
The young woman’s account is spreading on social media.
According to her, on September 5, her husband traveled to Chernivtsi for business, where he was stopped by staff from the territorial recruitment center. They claimed that his deferral did not appear in the “Oberig” system and suggested he come to the military commissariat to clarify his status.
At the recruitment center, the first thing he saw were two intoxicated military officers mocking a visibly ill young man. The officers threatened him with weapons and applied psychological pressure. The atmosphere there was described as extremely tense.
The woman further recounted that at the commissariat, her husband’s temporary military ID and deferral papers were torn up, with officials stating that “this is all nonsense” and that he was going to serve in the army. Meanwhile, another woman was already stamping his medical commission results.
Within two hours, he had a new military ID. From that point, at 3 p.m. that day, her husband stopped communicating. His wife grew very concerned because it would only take him about an hour and a half to get home, yet he had been unreachable for a long time.
Finally, at midnight, he managed to call his mother using the phone of another young man who had been “driven around military training grounds for four days.” The man’s mother and wife rushed to the police to file a missing person report, but the station was closed.
Now, both women are trying to seek justice.
Earlier, a student from Kharkiv, who now lives in Lviv, reported that he was forcibly taken and beaten by recruitment officers, despite being eligible for a deferral as a university student.
