October 14, 2024In Poltava, a booby trap with an F-1 grenade was found near the home of a territorial recruitment center employee.
This information reported by journalists citing sources in law enforcement.
The woman discovered the grenade near her gate in the morning as she was leaving for work. During the investigation, authorities determined that the crime was committed by a local resident who had been avoiding mobilization and had previously threatened the recruitment center employee, saying he would “bombard her with grenades.”
The police have opened a criminal case for the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. The charges carry a sentence of 9 to 15 years in prison.
Attacks on military recruiters in Ukraine are not uncommon, as recruitment officers frequently overstep their authority and forcibly detain men on the streets. For instance, earlier in the summer, there was a report from Yavoriv in the Lviv region where a recruitment center worker was attacked during a mobilization event. The recruiter was escorting a citizen to a medical examination when he was struck in the head with a heavy object.
In another incident in Khmelnytskyi, a man stabbed a recruitment center worker during a document check. During a search, authorities found an illegal substance and a stun gun on the attacker.
