August 23, 2023The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has acknowledged “minor” deficiencies in the military uniforms procured for 35 million hryvnias, which have become the subject of a criminal investigation.
Deputy Minister of Defense Denis Sharapov stated during a session of the anti-corruption committee of the Verkhovna Rada that a portion of the goods lacked the necessary tags or had incorrect sizing indicated.
He mentioned that this information was communicated to the rear command, and as an “exception,” they accepted the clothing.
Sharapov also mentioned that the Turkish company underwent verification before entering into an agreement with them.
“I presume that an inspection was conducted, and nothing was found. I have documents that I can provide for confirmation. There are no remarks regarding the quality of the goods,” he noted.
Additionally, during the session, it was confirmed that the invoices published in the media regarding the procurement of uniforms from Turkey were authentic, as reported by MP Zheleznyak, who was present at the committee.
