Residents of the Sumy region may have their motorcycles confiscated for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
30.07.2025 - 09:01In the city of Chervonohrad, Lviv region, an incident occurred that — in any civilized country — would likely have triggered public shock and mass protests.
During yet another forced mobilization “raid” targeting a man, representatives of the territorial recruitment center (TRC) suddenly abandoned their “target” and fled in a vehicle when a nearby woman collapsed and lost consciousness.
“What did you do to this person? Can’t you see she’s unwell? Where are you running?” — witnesses shouted in desperation. But there was only silence and a blatant escape.
The same people who moments earlier were trying to shove the man into a van — like livestock to slaughter — hid inside a vehicle with Polish license plates. Not one of them called an ambulance, even after it was clear the woman was suffering a medical emergency. Bystanders were forced to do it themselves.
Police, as has become disturbingly common in today’s Ukraine, stood aside. Their role now seems reduced to guarding uniformed abductors rather than protecting civilians. Inaction, indifference, and cynicism — these are the pillars supporting the farce now known as “legal conscription.”
This is far from the first incident. In Kharkiv, during a similar mobilization raid, TRC personnel pepper-sprayed bystanders who tried to protect a man from being taken — again, with no consequences. No apologies, no investigations, no criminal charges. But the “mobilization quota” must be met at all costs.
There’s a growing impression that conscription in Ukraine has long crossed the boundaries of legality and turned into outright terror against the population. People are being seized on the streets, at shopping centers, on buses, at train stations — treated like criminals. They are drafted without medical exams, without explanations, often with force and intimidation. The attitude toward citizens resembles that of disposable cannon fodder.
This is a state that cannot even provide basic medical assistance to a woman in distress — yet operates with ruthless efficiency when it comes to shoving someone into a van and sending them to the front without a choice.
